Year 13 Assignment: Should the UK increase its investment in nuclear power?
Format: PowerPoint presentation
Deadline: Presentations will be given on Tuesday 19th July 2005 during Periods 3 and 4 (Mr Brindle’s lesson – Mr Lea-Wilson will also be present)

Marking criteria:

  1. One slide with a clear explanation of nuclear power station operation

     
  2. Causes and consequences of one nuclear incident (eg Windscale, Chernobyl, Three Mile Island etc)

     
  3. Outline of one competing technology to nuclear: either renewable or non-renewable

     
  4. One slide comparing whole-life costs (in pence per kilowatt-hour) of nuclear power with one competing technology, eg wind or solar or coal

     
  5. One slide answering the assignment question “Should the UK increase its investment in nuclear power?” with reasons

     
  6. One slide with References of books and websites consulted.
